Dr. Snyder is a clinical psychologist in the private practice of psychotherapy since 1983. She got her B.A. summa cum laude in Classics and Psychology from Tufts University in 1977, followed by her M.A. (1980) and Ph.D. (1983) in clinical psychology from Boston University. Her dissertation was on mother daughter relationships in adulthood; Dr. Snyder has continued to have a strong interest in relational issues for both males and females throughout the lifecycle.
Dr. Snyder sees children, teens and adults in individual, couples, group, and family therapy, as well as teaching meditation to patients, at the University of Florida, and in the greater Gainesville community. She is a trained meditation instructor, a member of the University of Florida Mindfulness team, and is the past director of Shambhala Gainesville, a local meditation center. Dr. Snyder received her certification as a Collaborative Divorce Coach and Child Advocate at the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2008 and 2011, and has worked with couples and their children as they move through the divorce process. Dr. Snyder is a past president of the Collaborative Divorce Professionals of Gainesville. She has written articles on parenting and children’s development.
Dr. Snyder was a clinical fellow in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School from 1981 until 1990, when she moved to Florida. She was a courtesy clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine from 1995 until 2013. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Florida Psychological Association and a past president of the North Central Florida chapter of the Florida Psychological Association.
